El proyecto Matrioska Home (MH) plantea la creación de habitáculos para que las personas sin hogar puedan pernoctar en la calle en mejores condiciones. Esta solución temporal se presenta como un apoyo a este colectivo. Pero no nos confundamos, el objetivo no es que estas personas vivan en cajas de cartón. El objetivo es significar y visibilizar que es posible mejorar las condiciones en la que se encuentran las personas sin hogar, que es necesario restablecer su derecho fundamental, como el de cualquier ciudadano, a tener una vivienda digna. La solución en este caso es una mera anécdota que nos sirve como excusa, como llamada de atención a la sociedad y a las administraciones para hacer frente a estas cuestiones. MH, por tanto, huye de posicionamientos cercarnos a lo puramente asistencial o caritativo. MH se postula como un instrumento de visibilización y reivindicación de los derechos de las personas sin hogar.
The Project Matrioska Home (MH) raises the building of living spaces in order for the homeless to spend the night at the streets in better conditions. This temporal solution is presented as a support to this collective. However, we do not try that these people live in carton boxes. Our objective is to give meaning and to provide visibility to the fact that is viable to improve significantly the conditions in which the homeless are nowadays. That is, it is necessary to re-stablish his/her fundamental right, as any other citizen, to have a worthy house. The solution in this case is a simple anecdote which is used as excuse, as attention calling to the society and to the public administrations to face these problems. MH escapes therefore of the stands close to the purely welfare or charitable ones. MH is nominated as a visibility and tool for the demand of the homeless rights.

Las personas sin hogar son una parte de la población que se encuentra en la situación de exclusión más extrema que se puede vivir en una sociedad. Estar sin hogar no solo significa que no tienes un techo, un sitio donde refugiarse. Una persona sin hogar carece de estructura familiar, se encuentra fuera del mercado laboral, y ha sido expulsada de la sociedad normalizada, por lo que no tiene ningún soporte ni red social que le permita integrarse. Una persona sin hogar carece de capital humano y material. Su situación es de una gran vulnerabilidad por lo que, en estas condiciones, es difícil que su situación sea reversible. La sociedad parece que se ha acostumbrado a convivir con la situación de estos ciudadanos. Encontrarse con personas sin hogar es algo común y lo aceptamos. Sin embargo, estas bolsas de pobreza y exclusión ponen en contradicción el modelo de estado de bienestar, pilar de nuestra sociedad.
Las personas sin hogar son expulsadas del sistema, del estado de bienestar, son desposeídas de sus derechos como ciudadanos, y únicamente son atendidas con un carácter asistencial humanitario. No se les introduce en programas de integración, no se le da apoyo tanto económico y emocional, se les reparte bocadillos y se les ofrecen albergues cuando hace frío. Eso es todo. No existe voluntad política ni medios para realizar un trabajo integral para este colectivo.

The homeless are a part of the population which is in the position of most extreme exclusion in which a person can live in a society. To be without home does not only mean not having a house or a place to take refuge at. A homeless lacks familiar structures, is out of the job market, and has been expelled of the standardized society, leaving him/her without any support or social network that could facilitate his/her integration. It is very difficult that his/her situation may change due to the meaningful position of vulnerability achieved.
Society seems to be used to live with the situation of this kind of citizens. It is normal and commonly accepted to find homeless in the streets of our cities. However, these groups of abject poverty and exclusion contradict with our welfare state, which is one of our main society pillar.
The homeless are expelled from the system, from the welfare state; they are divested of their citizen rights and are only assisted with a humanitarian help. These people are left aside of the integration programs, they are lacked both economical and emotional support, and only sandwiches and hostels are offered in case of extreme low temperatures. That is all. Neither there are political interest nor resources to carry out an integral service for this collective.

La muestra En (caja) organizada colectivamente por estudiantes y docentes del curso Anteproyecto 02 del Taller Sheps. Facultad de Arquitectura UDELAR. Todo por la praxis participo en calidad de invitado presento el proyecto Matrioska Home. Para la ejecución del proyecto se construyeron 7 Matrioskas, que fueron repartidas por alumnos y, docentes y miembros de Todo Por la Praxis, a personas Sin Hogar, en las calles de Montevideo.
