MAPPING OF LA CAÑADA REAL

La Cañada Real Galiana is an old transhumance road in which a neighbourhood has been created through informal occupation, currently housing more than two thousand homes and almost ten thousand inhabitants, spread over fifteen kilometres of land.

The first constructions date back to the seventies, when the neighbours of the nearest town halls (Vallecas, Coslada and Getafe, among others) built small country houses there. With the passage of time, the settlement has grown and become increasingly complex.

La Cañada Real Galiana is located in the southeast of the city of Madrid, crossing several municipalities along its route... The treatment of La Cañada as a unit that questions the reality of the administrative division, its sociological composition and the legal framework to which it is attached.

In a first approach we try to make an exercise of approach to this reality for the understanding of the territory. To do this, we elaborate our own cartography that allows us to understand the complexity of the place and the interests that are at stake in it. As a result of this work, "The Conflict Map" was developed.
