Este dispositivo se integra en un proyecto amplio de recuperación de un solar para el barrio de Malasaña, que llevaba vacío más de 10 años, planteando su activación y gestión comunitaria. Este dispositivo se proyectó como una infraestructura del espacio con carácter flexible y evolutivo. Siendo un elemento de carácter polivalente respondiendo a las necesidades que vayan surgiendo (Bar, espacio de trabajo, espacio de asamblea, pista de baile, etc…).

El objetivo inicial era habilitar un espacio dentro del solar que proteja tanto de sol como de lluvia y que tuviese una superficie horizontal aislando de la húmeda y barro del terreno. El planteamiento en este caso fue más que generar un espacio estanco y cerrado era generar un espacio porticado que permitiese cubrir estas necesidades pero en relación directa al espacio del huerto.

Se trabajó con costillas de madera, distanciadas setenta y cinco centímetros cubriendo una superficie de unos cuarenta metros cuadros. Estas costillas en trapecio tienen una cubrición en su parte superior de onduline. El suelo se encuentro resulto por un entramado de madera pino y vigas transversales. Se desarrolló un banco en la parte exterior de la costilla con la intención de expandir el dispositivo al exterior vinculando directamente con el jardín y espacio de huerto. A su vez este banco tiene una función estructural ya que estas costillas no tiene cimentación este banco funcionara como contrapeso. En el interior de este pórtico se habilito el espacio mínimamente con la intención de tener un espacio flexible. Se desarrollaron unas mesas abatibles realizadas a través de puertas recuperadas, entre las costillas se realizaron estanterías con maderas y cajas de fruta. Y por último se instaló una hamaca y unos asientos balancines con carácter reversible en función del uso.

Toda la madera ha sido recuperada de los montajes expositivos del matadero, así como las puertas, cajas de fruta, etc… Salvo el onduline de la cubierta y la ferretería hemos conseguido que todos los materiales procedan de la recuperación minimizando así los costes de la construcción. Este dispositivo está sujeto a alteraciones y modificaciones en función de necesidades y la apropiación del dispositivo por parte del colectivo del jardín. Iremos haciendo un seguimiento de este proceso porque nos parece mucho más importante que estos fenómenos evolutivos de apropiación, parasitismo, ampliación y mejoras que el propio dispositivo.

This device is part of a large project to recover a plot of land for the Malasaña neighbourhood, which had been empty for more than 10 years, and is being considered for activation and community management. This device was designed as a flexible and evolutionary space infrastructure. It is a multipurpose element responding to the needs that arise (Bar, work space, assembly space, dance floor, etc....).

The initial objective was to provide a space inside the site that would protect it from both sun and rain and that would have a horizontal surface that would isolate it from the damp and muddy soil. The approach in this case was more than to generate a watertight and closed space, it was to generate a porticoed space that would allow to cover these needs but in direct relation to the orchard space.

The work was done with wooden ribs, spaced seventy-five centimetres apart, covering an area of about forty square metres. These trapezoidal ribs have an onduline top covering. The flooring met by a latticework of pine wood and cross beams. A bench was developed on the outside of the rib with the intention of expanding the device to the outside linking directly to the garden and orchard space. In turn, this bench has a structural function since these ribs have no foundation, this bench will function as a counterweight. In the interior of this portico, the space was made available with the intention of having a flexible space. Folding tables were developed through recovered doors, and shelves made of wood and fruit boxes were built between the ribs. And lastly, a hammock and rocking chairs were installed with a reversible character depending on the use.

All the wood has been recovered from the display assemblies of the slaughterhouse, as well as the doors, fruit boxes, etc.... Except for the unduline of the roof and the hardware store we have managed to get all the materials to come from the recovery thus minimizing the costs of construction. This device is subject to alterations and modifications according to needs and the appropriation of the device by the garden collective. We will be monitoring this process because we believe it is much more important than these evolutionary phenomena of appropriation, parasitism, enlargement and improvements than the device itself.
